Are You Near the Town?
Yes we are one of the closest accommodation providers to Torquay Harbour. It is only a few minutes walk to the Harbour where you will find shops, restaurants cafes and bars. The main shopping street runs from Torquay Harbour.
I am A Lone Woman Traveller, do you offer special facilities?
If you are a woman travelling alone we will happily collect you from the coach or train station. If you are driving let us know your route and your arrival time and who to contact if there is a problem.
I am walking the South West Coast Path, how close are you?
You can join the South West Coast Path by Torquay Harbour just a few minutes walk away. You can also join it behind the Imperial Hotel, about 10 minutes walk.
I am coming for a conference, exhibition, function, tournament or wedding, are you close to -

Yes, the Bowling Alley is just down the road, a 1 minute walk.
- The Living Waters Church?
Yes, The Living Waters Church is just a minute up the road.
- The Imperial Hotel?
Yes, the Imperial Hotel is a 5 minute walk on the way to the South West Coast Path.
- The Osborne Hotel?
Yes, the Osborne Hotel is a 10-15 minute walk on the way to Meadfoot Beach.
- The Palace Hotel?
Yes, the Palace Hotel is a 5 minute taxi ride, 20 minute walk towards Babbacombe.
- The Grand Hotel?
Yes, the Grand Hotel is a 10 minute taxi ride 25 minute walk along the seafront.
- The English Riviera Centre?
Yes, the English Riviera Conference Centre is a 5 minute taxi ride, 20 minute walk along the seafront.
I am going to the Theatre, are you close, and do you do theatre breaks?
The Princess Theatre on the seafront and The Little Theatre in St Marks Road are about 15 minutes away on foot. Babbacombe Theatre on Babbacombe Downs is a 10 minute taxi ride.
You can book a one-night half-board Theatre Break. We will serve you an early supper and, if you require, book your taxi.
I am going to watch Torquay Football Club/Torquay Rugby Club, can I check in early?
Torquay Football Club is in Plainmoor a 10 minute taxi ride and Torquay Rugby Club is on the seafront near Torquay Railway Station. If you are watching an afternoon match you are welcome to check-in early so you do not have to carry your luggage with you. Just telephone to tell us when you will be arriving.
Can I Park?
We have a car park which holds 5 guest cars; we can often arrange additional parking. Otherwise there is on-street parking opposite the hotel and pay & display car parks nearby.
I Have A Motorbike, Where Can I Park?
Most bikers have been happy to put their motorbikes on our car park. For security, some chain their motorbikes to the car park railings and others ask us to block them in with a car.
When Can I Arrive?
Check-in time is officially from 14.00. However if you are going to be in Torquay earlier you are welcome to register and drop of your luggage. If the room has been vacated you may have your key. Please call us to let us know your estimated arrival time.
What about Keys, Can I Come & Go As I Like?
The key to your bedroom also opens the front door so, like a hotel, you can come and go as you please.
Can I Smoke?
Smoking is no longer allowed inside. Ashtrays are provided in the garden.
Do You Allow Children?
The Kingsholm is best-suited to adults. We have neither family rooms nor equipment such as high chairs. There is no reduced tariff for children.
Do You Allow Pets?
So far we have only been asked to welcome dogs if you wish to bring any other sort of pet please contact us to see if they can stay. We are happy to have dogs to stay with their owners provided they are house-trained. Of course we cannot allow dogs in the dining room.
We make a charge of £5 per dog for the first night and £1 for every additional night. Please let us know if you wish to bring your dog so we can ensure you have a suitable room.
Can you store my gear as I am fishing/golfing/sailing/diving/rowing/walking?
We welcome people who have chosen outdoor activities in Torquay. Whether you are here to fish, play golf, sail, dive, row or walk we have coat hooks and storage plus a drying rack where you are welcome to store outdoor gear. We once managed to store a dinghy, mainsail and anchor – so just ask.
